Who we are

Nordica Pop Ups & Spin Wheel is a Shopify app made by Variegata Nordica (Mallory Berthomé). It shows pop-ups and bars on a store and gives shoppers who sign up a discount code. Questions about this policy or your data: hello@nordica-apps.com.

What happens when a shopper signs up

The email address (and first name, if the store asks for it) goes straight to the store’s own Shopify customer list, with the shopper’s email marketing consent and the time it was given. The store’s email app sends any emails. We keep no mailing list.

What the app stores

• Your store’s address and Shopify access, so the app can open in your Shopify admin.
• Per sign-up: a one-way hash of the email address (to give the same code again, never a second one), the discount code, the Shopify customer ID, the pop-up, the country and the date. Not the email address and not the name. Deleted 90 days after the code ends.
• Counts: how often each pop-up was shown and how many people signed up, per day. No data about who saw it.
• Your pop-ups and settings.
• Messages you send with “Contact support” or “Suggest an improvement”, and technical error reports.

In the shopper’s browser the app remembers which pop-ups were closed or signed up for (local storage, no cookies), so they are not shown again.

Who processes the data

Cloudflare hosts the app and its database under Cloudflare’s data processing terms. Shopify holds the customers and discount codes and handles billing. Nothing is sold or shared for advertising.

How long it is kept

When Shopify passes on a customer’s request to be forgotten, their sign-up records are deleted. When a store uninstalls, its sign-in data is deleted at once; 48 hours later every pop-up, count and sign-up record is deleted.

Consent

The sign-up form asks for consent with an unticked box in countries with opt-in rules (the EU and EEA, the UK, Switzerland, Canada, Brazil and others), and explains it in one line elsewhere. The app is a tool, not legal advice: the store decides how it uses its customer list.
